This blog provides a service as action opportunity for G6 to think about the ethical implications of actions; when they are kind, courageous, or a good friend, what happens to them, to others, and the world because of their actions? In writing about the impact of these acts on a blog, we hope to raise awareness of how kindness, courage and friendship can propel us to greatness and help make the world a better place.

Being a helping hand
Last week during advisory we were trying to log into managebac. Some kids had trouble trying to login so I helped them. I told them step by step how they had to login. After they logged in one of them did a service as action right away. What he did was helpful and beneficial to how younger kids could play a sport. The other one didn't have anything to posts but i'm sure he will post a service as action.
Teaching the Younger Kids
For Math, we are doing a project to teach the 5th graders. Me and a couple of other girls in my class are doing it together. Our goal is to teach them about different types of angles and how to measure them. It will help them to learn a few things before the next year and prepare them for what they are going to learn.
Not Throwing Food Away.
So yesterday I and my mom were organizing the kitchen like throwing expired foods and more. My mom found these Milo cookies that someone had brought me from Colombia. My mom asked me if I was going to eat them and I said no cause I didn't like them. When I saw my mom going to the garbage, I told her to stop and to not throw it away. I took them from her hand and said we should not throw them and maybe give them to a worker that is hungry and doesn't have that much money to but for himself.

Putting a smile on someone's face
Over the summer in 2018 me and my family went to Canada. We went to have lunch and while we were heading to our destination we passed a homeless man. I think he had a sign saying "pleas give me food." When we finished our lunch we walked back to the area where the homeless man was. We gave him the leftovers we had from our lunch

Dandelion the cat.
There is a small and scared cat in my compound. Too small for its age. He/she is a yellow, orange colour. It is small and timid when people are within a meter of it. It is too small too catch food on its own so we (me and my sister) feed it everyday when it comes by to say hi to my cat. I call it dandelion. I call it Dandelion because it is small and beautiful, also because of the colour of her coat. It is getting bigger and less scared of people.
Helping Ms Sharlene prepare the grade 5s for their exhibition that is coming up.
Ms. Sharlene is one of my most supportive and dearest teachers, so when I volunteered to be a helper, not only was Ms. Sharlene getting help as well as the grade 5s but also, I felt very good about what I did, because teachers are the people with the hardest jobs and they exceed at their tasks, so what I did, was a sign of kindness and courage, courage; I showed courage by being a Riak-Taker and pushing my limits of stage frights and standing up and having a conversation with a younger audience like the grade 5s.
What I learned from this experience is that if you ever try to help someone or a large group of people is that at the end, you will always feel that feeling where you just feel good about yourself because you helped others in need or assistance, and for that I say that I thank all of my teachers, both close and far for helping me build my future and make it the best it can be and continuing to do that five days per week.

"Say cheese!"
Yesterday, I had a swimming competition but at 6:00 am when I woke up, I was so tired since I hadn't been able to sleep well and I had had a stomach ache after dinner which continued. I woke up my mom because we had to get going, and I told her that I didn't feel well and she didn't either so we decided to skip the first half of the gala. But I still wasn't feeling better and we informed my coach that we weren't coming.
Later on, my mom is a photographer and had a photoshoot for our family friends at Katara. My sister and I had to come along since we couldn't be left at home so we helped throughout the photoshoot by taking turns holding my mom's big camera bag and other bags that the family had brought with their clothes.
I showed both, kindness and friendship, because I carried my mom and the family's things which is kindness. And friendship by also keeping my friend company when her parents' pictures were being taken.

Happy Mothers Day!
Today, my mom had a dinner party and there are going to be lots of guests so we had started taking out plates and etc the night before.
My sister was making pavlova and needed help with it and I decided to help her. I started by taking out all the ingredients since she had just come back from horse riding and her legs were hurting. Then, she didn't trust me enough to let me mix some of it so I was stuck clean up after her because she kept dropping sugar on the kitchen counter as she scooped it up and put it in the bowl.
I have also agreed to help out wherever possible at the party for at the most, an hour. Though my mom and I made a deal that she hand her friends need to be quiet because I have to get up for my swimming competition tomorrow.
This will be considered a Mother's Day favor to her too.
Personally, I think I showed kindness by helping my mom beforehand and also agreeing to help afterwards.
Read! Read! Read!
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been helping this little girl get better at reading. on Mondays and Tuesdays, I have been going over to her house and started reading with her. While I am there I do her reading log with her and read and sound out books with her. I am doing this because it is a good thing to do and I think it will help her a lot. I am going to try and continue doing this every week and see how it goes and if she improves. During these past few weeks, I have shown kindness. I think this because I have taken away the days I'm free to help someone else improve on something.
