Being a helping hand

Last week during advisory we were trying to log into managebac. Some kids had trouble trying to login so I helped them. I told them step by step how they had to login. After they logged in one of them did a service as action right away. What he did was helpful and beneficial to how younger kids could play a sport. The other one didn't have anything to posts but i'm sure he will post a service as action.

Teaching the Younger Kids

For Math, we are doing a project to teach the 5th graders. Me and a couple of other girls in my class are doing it together. Our goal is to teach them about different types of angles and how to measure them. It will help them to learn a few things before the next year and prepare them for what they are going to learn.

Not Throwing Food Away.

So yesterday I and my mom were organizing the kitchen like throwing expired foods and more. My mom found these Milo cookies that someone had brought me from Colombia. My mom asked me if I was going to eat them and I said no cause I didn't like them. When I saw my mom going to the garbage, I told her to stop and to not throw it away. I took them from her hand and said we should not throw them and maybe give them to a worker that is hungry and doesn't have that much money to but for himself.

Putting a smile on someone's face

Over the summer in 2018 me and my family went to Canada. We went to have lunch and while we were heading to our destination we passed a homeless man. I think he had a sign saying "pleas give me food." When we finished our lunch we walked back to the area where the homeless man was. We gave him the leftovers we had from our lunch

Dandelion the cat.

There is a small and scared cat in my compound. Too small for its age. He/she is a yellow, orange colour. It is small and timid when people are within a meter of it. It is too small too catch food on its own so we (me and my sister) feed it everyday when it comes by to say hi to my cat. I call it dandelion. I call it Dandelion because it is small and beautiful, also because of the colour of her coat. It is getting bigger and less scared of people.

Helping Ms Sharlene prepare the grade 5s for their exhibition that is coming up.

Ms. Sharlene is one of my most supportive and dearest teachers, so when I volunteered to be a helper, not only was Ms. Sharlene getting help as well as the grade 5s but also, I felt very good about what I did, because teachers are the people with the hardest jobs and they exceed at their tasks, so what I did, was a sign of kindness and courage, courage; I showed courage by being a Riak-Taker and pushing my limits of stage frights and standing up and having a conversation with a younger audience like the grade 5s.

What I learned from this experience is that if you ever try to help someone or a large group of people is that at the end, you will always feel that feeling where you just feel good about yourself because you helped others in need or assistance, and for that I say that I thank all of my teachers, both close and far for helping me build my future and make it the best it can be and continuing to do that five days per week.

"Say cheese!"

Yesterday, I had a swimming competition but at 6:00 am when I woke up, I was so tired since I hadn't been able to sleep well and I had had a stomach ache after dinner which continued. I woke up my mom because we had to get going, and I told her that I didn't feel well and she didn't either so we decided to skip the first half of the gala. But I still wasn't feeling better and we informed my coach that we weren't coming.
Later on, my mom is a photographer and had a photoshoot for our family friends at Katara. My sister and I had to come along since we couldn't be left at home so we helped throughout the photoshoot by taking turns holding my mom's big camera bag and other bags that the family had brought with their clothes.

I showed both, kindness and friendship, because I carried my mom and the family's things which is kindness. And friendship by also keeping my friend company when her parents' pictures were being taken.

Happy Mothers Day!

Today, my mom had a dinner party and there are going to be lots of guests so we had started taking out plates and etc the night before.
My sister was making pavlova and needed help with it and I decided to help her. I started by taking out all the ingredients since she had just come back from horse riding and her legs were hurting. Then, she didn't trust me enough to let me mix some of it so I was stuck clean up after her because she kept dropping sugar on the kitchen counter as she scooped it up and put it in the bowl.
I have also agreed to help out wherever possible at the party for at the most, an hour. Though my mom and I made a deal that she hand her friends need to be quiet because I have to get up for my swimming competition tomorrow.
This will be considered a Mother's Day favor to her too.
Personally, I think I showed kindness by helping my mom beforehand and also agreeing to help afterwards.

Read! Read! Read!

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been helping this little girl get better at reading. on Mondays and Tuesdays, I have been going over to her house and started reading with her. While I am there I do her reading log with her and read and sound out books with her. I am doing this because it is a good thing to do and I think it will help her a lot. I am going to try and continue doing this every week and see how it goes and if she improves. During these past few weeks, I have shown kindness. I think this because I have taken away the days I'm free to help someone else improve on something.

The time I cooked breakfast

once  my mom was sick so she could not cook so I had to cook so I cooked for my mom, my dad, my cousin, my y grandma, my grandpa, and my sister.

Half Blind Cat

6 – 7 years ago, three cats came to my garden and my mom took a cat the was half blind. We got it when he was 4 months old. Today he is 7 years old and his name is Zero.

Slushies And Jaws...

One day when I was at a trampoline park with my friends, Ulia was jumping on a trampoline when she fell and hit her knee on her jaw and I was very worried for her because it looked very painful. I went up to her and I asked her what happened because I wasn't going to ask if she was okay because she obviously wasn't. She told me that she was doing a front flip when she fell and her knee hit her jaw. I heard that getting something cold would numb the pain so I took her to get slushies, we thought we would get them for free but it turned out that we had to pay for them so we walked all the way to the restaurant my mom was staying at to get money. After a while, we came back with the money for the slushies and I got us both some and then her jaw didn't hurt as much, it was even better because we made Dhalya and Julia jealous. Then, we took some pictures and Dhalya bought her own slushy.

Walking the Dog

Recently, my neighbours found a dog on the street that they decided to foster, the dog is living with them for now, but they will send the dog to an animal shelter in America soon. They are a busy family, so every time I get home from school, I walk to their house and walk the dog around the compound because I think that the dog shouldn't just sit in the house all day and not be able to go outside and have fun.

Helping Celine Organize

The second time I ever went to Celine's house, she was moving, so I helped her organize and tidy her closet. I held up her shirts and we had 4 piles, donation, memories, keep, maybe. After everything was organized, we brought black trash bags and put all the donation clothes/shoes inside them. Everything else was folded and put into a box to take to her new apartment. Then we organized everything into her new closet. It took us about 3 hours.

                                                                       Acts of kindness

Kindness means if you get a gift for someone or a present or helping a homeless person being kind means a lot of things and the things that i just said those are only a little bit of examples of what kindness actually means the definition is the quality of being helpful or generous that is what kindness means you should also be kind.

Trip to the Shop

Yesterday, I think I was being a kind because I helped my mom get groceries. That day, my mom was very tired and she felt worn out because she was working all day. And the worst part was that we needed groceries from the store so we could eat dinner. My mom was really tired and she didn't want to go anywhere. So my father, my brother and I decided to buy my mom food and the groceries. I came back with the groceries and her food and she was so happy.

End The Hate!

For weeks now, three eighth graders and I have been practising a play in Drama Club. It's called 'End The Hate!' and is about how we should all be open-minded towards other people's opinions and perspectives. And for this play, we used BTS as an example.
At first, we thought that we were going to be performing it only for the Drama Club, but then Ms. Tina
asked us if we would like to do it for the Lower Schoolers for their book week.
So after my drama class, I stayed back to wait for the other girls and we went downstairs to get ready (Middle High school had 7th and 8th period/an assembly). I was very nervous about performing, and to add to that, I was going to have to deliver a short speech at the beginning to introduce our play and the moral. There was no script for my speech prepared beforehand and I was going to have to improvise, which meant there was a risk of me messing up. After my motivational and inspiring words, I walked off the stage and a fifth grader shouted, "BTS is trash!" in my direction. Though I tried to forget about his unnecessary comment and focus on the play since it was making me more anxious than I was, and I didn't even think that was possible.
I'm not going to elaborate, but let's just say the audience didn't react as we had anticipated and that left us feeling dull.
By then I was used to all the criticism and comments I've been receiving regarding my taste in music, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt any less.

I think that we displayed all three of the attributes, Kindness, Courage and Friendship.
Kindness because we were willing to take the time out of our day and use up our recess everyday solely to rehearse so we could teach the lower schooler about being open minded and accepting.
Courage because we were able to overcome their rude judgement.
And lastly, friendship because we encouraged and supported each other during both practises and the
real play when we were most discouraged.

I hope that in the future, people will accept other for who they are, what they do and the way they feel. I wish they would be tolerant of others and eliminating discrimination throughout all ages.
If only the world was this way...

Becoming Friends

This weekend my dad and I went to a picnic. One of my dad's friends brought her daughter. The daughter, Addy asked me if I could play with her. So we went out onto the open grass and played football and games. After we finished playing football we played tag and catch. While we were playing tag Addys mum came up to me and said that Addy had something to ask me. Addy then asked if I could start to babysit her sometimes, I said sure. After that, we continued to play games and run around. During this act of kindness, I think that I was showing the attribute friendship. I think this because while I was playing with Addy I was being friendly and we became friends.

Helping my cousin!

I helped my cousin on her project about stoichiometry. I did a lot of background research to understand the basics of stoichiometry and more facts to know what to write about of course. She was really thankful I helped her and it turns out im really benefiting from it because stoichiometry is almost a section we use in our science project which helps me understand chemical reactions and basic data more! I feel like I was kind to help her and we did get a better understanding of our funny friendship!

i went to a race and it was fun #fun #grade six #courage

Helping my cousin decorated for her party

So basically my cousin was making a party an she was the only one decorating so from the look in her face i knew she needed help because the space is so big outside so i went out and started to decorate with her. After the party finished there was a big mess outside so we just put the food inside then let the maids clean the rest since it was 1 am at night.

Kholoud 6A- I Helped my Mother with...

         Helping my Mother

I helped my mother with something different in our mother and daughter relationship. I helped her to design some jars for a customer that wanted to have some coffee in the jar so we designed it together, by that I'm showing kindness because I cared about what my mother did and I didn't want her to be tired so I gave her some ideas and showed our teamwork and relationship. It was hard to get all the ideas together but we ended up choosing this design. I think I made my mother happy by helping her.

Making People Smile

Hi! Welcome!

I'm Maria & I'm going on a challenge to do kind things! Kindness helps you to become a better person in life to engage with others!

Good Morning!

I'm starting off the day, with helping my nanny clean the house (She has to wake up at 3:00 AM just to clean the house, iron the clothes, wash the clothes, & prepare my sister & my food.) Ok, so there is a lot of work for my nanny so I decide, just to help her clean the house! Like mop the floor, & clean outside the house with water etc.

My nanny was very thankful once I helped her clean & I love to see a BIG smile on peoples faces! It just makes my day!

Donating clothes

Hello, there! , good afternoon/good morning I'm Hala and I'm in a challenge to do acts of kindness and I'm here to tell you about an act of kindness I did.

On the 10th of March, I have decided to donate some of my clothes and old toys to charity.
I had shirts, pants, sweaters, jackets and much more to donate. I gathered all the clothes & toys I wanted to donate and I placed them in a big black bag and I handed that big black bag to my mom so she can take it to a charity.

From what I have done I learned that just being kind and doing the simplest thing can make you a better person.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

Still Playing Nurse...

My mom's foot has still not recovered and she payed another visit to the doctor, who stressed that she must rest so I'm still assisting her. My family has really been insisting on her resting since we want to go visit my maternal grandmother, who just moved to Quetta (a city in Pakistan), but it depends on whether or not my mom gets better because we have to take two flights to get there.
14/3/2019
My sister was in a bad mood and my mom asked me if I could go to the tailor with and pick up her clothes, I agreed.
My mom parked and I took the money and receipt, went inside, payed and took the clothes for her.
15/3/2019
We picked my sister up from her friend's house and needed groceries, so my mom sent my sister and I to the mall and said my sister could check out the guitar store too.

Over the past weeks, I have been displaying kindness to my mom in every way possible, as she does for me.

Helping My Sister With Her Exhibition 13/3/2019

Today I was helping my sister with her exhibition because she needed help and was struggling. Another thing was she needed a mentor so I decided to help her and be her mentor. I felt bad for her and so that is why I did it.

Buying something for my Sister 12/3/2019

Today my sister was given money by my dad and she wanted to go buy something but she wasn't allowed to go out the compound so I said okay and bought for her because I wanted to be kind to her.

Helping a lost child

I was in katara eating lunch with my family and asked my mom if I can walk in the beach so my mom said okay I went walking and found this little girl crying on the beach I asked her were where her parents she stopped crying and was staring at me the whole time I got her found because maybe she was lost for hours and hungry and after I tried to tell her where her mom was she there she pointed at the left and the whole time her mom was with her friends and I told her mom your daughter was crying the whole time she said oh I thought she was in the carrier so I said take care of her and went.
I gave food to my neighbour's cat because she was starving and there was no one to feed her and she was starving and because it looked like it was about to die.

Karachi United

Yesterday after my swim training, my mom took my sister and I to Aspire Park. She said that there was an under 12 football team called Karachi United, coming from Pakistan to use Aspire's training facilities so she wanted to take pictures of them and we were going to support them since they had a match. At first, I wondered why it was such a big deal that Pakistani boys were coming to play until my mom told us that they were from Lyari.
Lyari is a very underprivileged town in near Karachi (where I'm from). The people of Lyari focus on sports a lot, for both boys and girls. They box, play football and etc, despite the fact that they have neither the proper resources nor facilities to play/practice in. A few months back, my aunt went to Lyari and took pictures of the murals of famous football players like Messi, Mohamed Salah and Neymar, covering the walls. Players as famous as them are idolized in Lyari, little children grow up dreaming of playing as well as them.
My sister and I sat through the match and watched them play against who I'm pretty sure were Aspire Academy.
The match ending with a tie, 0-0. That meant that there were penalties coming and my mom told me to record each in case they scored. By then, I was very sure they were going to win because of how well they had played. Karachi United got one out of three penalties, and the other team got two. As soon as the ball entered the goal, the opposing team exploded. Three of them took their shirts off, and they began to run circles around the pitch as if they won the World Cup. The Karachi United players dragged themselves to the side and one even started crying. I felt so bad for them, they had come from their little town in Pakistan to play without proper training, and they lost. I stood by my mom as she took team pictures, she kept saying, "All of you played so well, smile for us." though only one did. After congratulating them on a great match, we left and I couldn't help but be mad at the other team. They didn't even shake hands, they showed no sportsmanship at all.
On the way home, my mom told me that from that match, three of them had been chosen to go to the UK for proper training.

I showed kindness by watching the match and supporting them the whole way through even though I was hungry and tired after swimming, I realized how much this opportunity to come Doha really meant to those boys.
I wish them lots of luck in the future.

I helped my mom in making dinner because she was not feeling well.

I put out the garbage that was in my house because my mom and dad were tired and sleepy.

Kindness to my brother

On Friday my family and I went to the movies to watch Captain Marvel. Then we went to the kite festival in the evening. After that we went to Cheesecake factory for dinner. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and with french fries and my younger brother got mac and cheese. When we got our food I didn't think about giving him some of my food. I ended up giving him a piece of grilled cheese because I felt like sharing with him.

The Rise of reading

During my long weekend, I decided that I wanted to go into my dad's school and help out the PreK 3's. When I went to there classroom they wanted me to play some games with them. We all played duck duck goose and played in the playground. Then when we went inside the little kids asked me to read books to them. I decided to read them 2 books. I asked them what books they wanted me to read and they said the books they liked to read were books about pets and animals. After I read both of the books I asked them about there opinions on the books and what they liked about them. During this process, I think I showed the attribute friendship. I think this because I played with the kids and read to them, which is what friends do.
I helped my sister clean her room because she is small and couldn't do it by herself and because it was a mess.
I helped my dad clean his car because he was getting very tired.

Helping a baby bird

I was on my way to the court in my park and saw a baby bird on the flower that was lonely and the mother wasn't there for it, I thought 'oh the mother will go and get food and come back to him or her' So I went and played football & basketball with my friends and came back and still found the little bird there so cold and shaking so I eminently held it and ran to my house told my mom my mom came and helped me, we got a cage and baby bird food and water and in the cage we built him a nest and something that he can hide in, a couple days went by and it was okay it eats but it needs help to eat so we bought a baby bird feeder thing and it helped we had him for already a month the bird was happy, not sick so we made him fly away because I don't want it to be in the cage for a long time and I named him Coco.

Helping a Baby Bird

One day I was riding my bike around my compound when I saw something small moving on the ground. I didn't really care at first (thinking it was a leaf or something) but I realized that it was a baby bird when I was about a centimeter away from killing it. I stopped and got off my bike and I carried the baby bird because it did not know how to fly. I waited for someone to pass so that they could help me decide what to do or where to put it so that a cat does not eat it. Some girls passed with their moms and I told them what had happened. So what we did was we claimed a tree and we put the baby bird in some sort of a nest so that it would not fall.

are you kind?

on a Saturday me and my friends and my cousins and his dad were in khor I helped with the bbq and the tents we also started to give the food that we could not finish to the people that need it.

Helping Those Around Us

During our long weekend, I decided that on Thursday I would go into my dads class and help out the students. I helped the students practice their speeches that they had to perform and get graded on. I helped the kids and told them what they could do to improve. The kept on reading there speeches to me until they were as good as they could be. In the end, most of the kids I helped ended up getting great grades on their speeches. During this process, I think I showed kindness. I think this because I used a day of my long weekend to help some kids with school work.

True kindness towards others.

In February when we had sports day some people went to buy themselves food. Cameron bought some fruitella and gave some to me and josh. Then I got some more, but Arham didn't get any. I thought about eating it and kept going back and forth. I ended up giving it to Arham. I did because I felt bad for him and he gave me some of his candy. This makes me a better person because I am sharing with others.

Helping my dad making pizza for dinner.

My mother went for a few days to Poland. I decided to help my dad in making a dinner.  At the beginning I went with my dad to the shop. I helped him collect ingredients, carry shopping and ran a shopping trolley.

My dad told me what was on the shopping list and I helped him to find it in the shop. When we returned home, we took the pizza dough out of the bowl and started to put it on a baking tray.

When the dough was already well spread on the baking tray, we started to spread ingredients such as tomato sauce, cheese, ham and pepper. Then we put the pizza in the oven and waited for 15 minutes. When the pizza was baked well, my dad cut it into pieces and I helped to position the plates and cutlery. When dinner was ready, everyone was ready to eat with taste.

My dad praised me that I helped him a lot and that he was happy that I was so helpful and KIND.

Thanks to this event in my life I learned that there are always opportunities to help and how important is the daily work of our parents.

Playing Nurse

A week ago, my mom hurt her foot and when we visited the doctor they told her to rest. Since then, I've been doing favors for her and helping in any way possible.
My sister fell sick around the same time, so I've been doing things for her too.
6/3/2019
While my sister was at horse riding, my mom and I hung out in the mall. Because we had run out of eggs at home, I let my mom wait on a bench as I went and got the groceries myself.

Out of kindness, friendship and courage, I think I displayed kindness because I did a good deed for my mom who does an awful lot for me whenever the slightest thing goes wrong.

something shine

I was walking but then suddenly I saw something shining in the sun I walked a bit closer and it was money. It was 10 QR ($2.75) one of my friends told me lets keep it no one will notice at first I was a bit unsure should I keep it or should I give it to the teachers. His words were a bit convincing but I decided to give it back so I did and I was rewarded.

i was feeding street cats with my money

Charity and books

Hospital visit

I had some kind of urge to visit children in the hospital and read them stories, one child, my relative, named Leila said that I was a great reader and she really needed some support since she was sick with food poisoning. It was really fun reading to them and donating to Qatar charity along the way and I thought that I would read stories to people more often! Walking out of the hospital, I, once again, experienced some kind of feeling of being kind, it feels like you achieved something! I was really sad seeing what people had to go through and experience but the thought of putting a smile on their face brings me joy. I showed courage getting in the room, reading a story in front of my relatives and remember, no matter what, doing an act of kindness, courage or friendship, nothing will stop you, your fears, your shyness, nothing. The feeling of feeling happy after it is really worth it! I will take notes next time as well as bring props and make it more fun!

Feisty's Journey

This is Feisty. She was one of they most unhealthy cats in my compound. She was hungry, small & scared. She wouldn't let anyone touch her.

We have been caring for her for the past year. We have had some casualties with her like I got bitten twice trying to feed her. She also got sick from drinking pool water. We give her fresh water every day so she doesn't get sick again.

This is a photo i took of Feisty 6 months ago.

This is her now.

Special thanks to my mom and dad for getting food for the cats. Very special thanks to my cat Feisty for being  some what cooperative though out her journey.

Helping my parents

I helped my parents by taking care of my smaller siblings (babysitting them) the whole day while my parents where very busy with there work and also I helped my parents around the house for a very very big family event.

Helping my dad

Usually, my dad wakes up a bit earlier than me to walk my dog but he's always very tired because he come back from a flight and doesn't get enough sleep. One morning I set my alarm earlier than usual and I told my dad to stay in bed and I will walk the dog.

Sending Money to Charity| Jude

Hi, my name is Jude. In today's blog, I will tell you what kind thing I did on Friday, March 1st.

On Friday, March 1st  I went with my BFF Leen to a school called NBS ( Newton British school) and I was selling stuff to get money, I sold slime with leen and made quite a lot of money. At the end of the fair, we counted out the money and split the money into two parts so that we each get a fair amount of money. After my friend leen left I decided to go to the mall and put half of the money that I received from the fair to charity at Villagio mall.
Thank you for listening to my blog for today.

I think my act was an act of kindness because I was giving money to people who need it more than i do.
